Varnamala

“From Narayana is born the succession of these letters

- Srila Jiva Goswami, Harinamrita Vyakarna.

This work describes the transcendental origin of the Varnamala - the Sanskrit alphabet . The tree-like shape of the Varnamala references the work of R. K. Joshi, the father of Indian calligraphy and typography. The work reveals the tree’s new form for the digital age, while remaining rooted in tradition, as seen in the use of Devanagari and Siddham scripts.

Mixed media, Chinese ink, gold leaf on fine art paper, Devanagari and Siddham Script
